Appleton East baseball slugs past Neenah

NEENAH – Rylan Winkler broke open a close game with a bases-loaded three-run double in the top of the seventh inning to help the Appleton East baseball team earn a 7-2 win over Neenah on Thursday at Neenah High School.
The Patriots led 3-2 heading into the seventh when Daniel Dieck singled home Nick Verbeten to push the lead to two.
Winkler followed with a double to center to score all three bases runners and give the Patriots some breathing room.
Cade Prestigiacomo finished off a complete game with a scoreless bottom of the seventh. He had seven strikeouts and no walks as East improves to 14-7 overall and 9-6 in the Fox Valley Association.
Prestigiacomo and Dieck each had two hits for Appleton East.
Appleton East’s next game is Tuesday at Kaukauna.
