Appleton East boys take ninth, girls 12th at De Pere Cross Country Invite

GREEN BAY – The Appleton East boys cross country team placed ninth and the girls took 12th among 30 teams competing at the De Pere Invitational on Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Kimberly won both team titles as the boys finished with 60 points, six ahead of second-place De Pere, while the Papermakers girls had 72 points, well ahead of runner-up Green Bay Notre Dame (122).
The Appleton East boys were ninth with 303 points, and the East girls finished 12th among with 368 points.
Grady Lenn of De Pere won the boys race in 15:26.9, 45 seconds ahead of runner-up Logan Boehnlein of Seymour.
Louie Mandich took 15th in 17:01.3 to lead the way for the Patriots boys. Liam Krainik finished 46th (18:10.0), Xander Schlitz was 58th (18:39.4). Auden Winkel 96th (19:15.5) and Zachary Gaschler was 98th (19:16.2) to round out East’s scoring runners.
Hannah Miller of Kewaunee was the individual champion in a time of 19:07.1, with Kimberly’s Elie Volheim coming in second at 19:13.6.
Rosemarie Butler was Appleton East’s top girls runner, taking 19th in 20:35. Evie Eidemiller was 55th (21:38.3), Olive Crownhart 69th (21:59.9), Molly Peterson 87th (22:18.1) and Zoe Benz 148th (24:07.2) as well for the Patriots.
