Appleton East girls basketball defeats Kaukauna, Slinger to extend winning streak to 15

The Appleton East girls basketball team extended its winning streak to 15 with a pair of wins over the weekend.

The Patriots defeated Kaukauna 47-28 in a Fox Valley Association game at home on Friday, and went on the road to down Slinger 54-36 on Saturday.

In Friday’s win, the Patriots kept their perfect Fox Valley Association record intact, improving to 11-0.

East jumped out to a 24-10 lead by halftime and finished off the win as it connected on nine 3-pointers, including three by Ella Sweeney, and two each from Aubrie Erickson and Jenna Ott.

Sweeney had 17 points to lead the Patriots.

Against Slinger, East again started strong, taking a 36-21 lead into halftime and was able to clinch the road victory.

Ambria Fischer was the only East player to net double figures, scoring a game-high 13 points.

Appleton East travels to Kimberly for a huge FVA game on Tuesday. The Patriots lead Kimberly by just one game in the conference standings, having handed the Papermakers (11-4, 10-1 FVA) their only loss, 50-43, back on Dec. 12.
