Appleton East girls basketball grabs road win at Kaukauna

KAUKAUNA – A balanced scoring attack and strong defense propelled the Appleton East girls basketball team to a 53-35 win over Kaukauna in a Fox Valley Association game Friday night at Kaukauna High School.
The Patriots pulled out to a 34-15 lead by halftime and were able to hold on, improving to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the FVA.
Emilia MontMarquette and Ella Sweeney each scored nine points to lead East, which had eight different players score at least three in the win.
Kaukauna falls to 1-2 overall and in the FVA.
Appleton East will have a week off before hosting Kimberly (3-1, 3-0 FVA) next Friday, Dec. 12, in a rematch of a state tournament game from last season that was won by the Papermakers.
