APPLETON – Appleton East made nine 3-pointers in the second half to comeback from a slight halftime deficit and defeated Eau Claire Memorial 59-43 in a nonconference girls basketball game Saturday afternoon at East High School.
Memorial led 22-20 at halftime in the rematch of last year’s WIAA Division 1 sectional final that the Patriots (11-1) won on their way to the state tournament, but East was able to rally with some hot shooting from outside.
Emilia MontMarquette made three 3-pointers, and Jenna Ott, Aburie Erickson and Ella Sweeney each had two in the second-half burst to lead the Patriots to their 11th-straight win.
Ott finished with a game-high 17 points and Sweeney had 13 for Appleton East, which had 14 3-pointers in all.
Raya Shaw led Memorial (7-3) with 12 points.
Appleton East returns to Fox Valley Association play Tuesday at Appleton West.
