Appleton East girls basketball pulls out road win at Beaver Dam to finish regular season

BEAVER DAM – The Appleton East girls basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a 55-47 nonconference win over Beaver Dam in a battle of state-ranked teams on Saturday at Beaver Dam High School.

The Patriots, ranked No. 5 in the latest Division 1 Bound/Zaleski Sports state poll, trailed by two at halftime before pulling away in the second half to post the win over Beaver Dam, ranked fifth in Division 2.

Ella Sweeney had 13 points, Emilia MontMarquette added 12 and Jenna Ott scored 10 for the Patriots, who finish the regular season with a 21-3 record.

Appleton East will host the winner of Tuesday’s game between Appleton West and Milwaukee Riverside on Friday in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal.
