Appleton East girls basketball rallies late to top Hortonville

HORTONVILLE – Appleton East used a 15-0 run late in upend the game and went on to defeat Hortonville 60-54 in a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game Tuesday night at Hortonville High School.
The Patriots led 24-16 at halftime before Hortonville used a 10-0 run early in the second half to take a 38-33 advantage.
Appleton East turned the tables with a 15-0 run to bolt back ahead and were able to hang on the rest of the way to remain undefeated in the FVA.
The Patriots are now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the FVA, while Hortonville falls to 3-3 and 1-3 in conference play.
Jenna Ott hit three of the Patriots’ seven 3-pointers and tied for team-high scoring honors with Aubrie Erickson with 15 points.
Kardyn Peppler made four 3s and scored a game-high 20 points for Hortonville.
Appleton East hosts Oshkosh North on Friday.
