Appleton East girls tennis pulls out tight win over Appleton West

APPLETON – The Appleton East girls tennis team evened its Fox Valley Association record with a 4-3 win over Appleton West on Tuesday at East High School.

No. 1 singles player Aubrie Erickson and No. 2 Shyann Her each won matches in a third-set tiebreakers for the Patriots (4-4 FVA).

Appleton West’s Olivia Buettner at No. 3 singles and Molly Buettner at No. 4 singles, along with the No. 2 doubles team of Lilah Pitterle and Paulina Martinez all won in straight sets for the Terrors (2-6 FVA).

Appleton East’s No. 1 doubles team of Hailey Berndt and Lucy Endres, and Kiara Brux and Addi Pavek at No. 3 doubles also posted straight-set wins for the Patriots.

Appleton East plays at Oshkosh West and Appleton West hosts Fond du Lac in the final FVA matches of the season on Thursday. The Fox Valley Association Girls Tennis Tournament is Oct. 2 at Neenah.
