Appleton East softball ends long losing skid, wins two of three at Ashwaubenon Invite

ASHWAUBENON – The Appleton East softball team ended a seven-game losing streak by winning two of three games at the Ashwaubenon Invitational on Saturday at Pioneer Park.

The Patriots (4-14) defeated Coleman 12-5 and Oakfield 1-0 before suffering a 9-2 loss to Union Grove.

Aubrey Heinz pitched a complete game against Coleman to pick up the victory.

The Patriots finished with 11 hits, two each by Lydia Dahlman, Torie Neubauer and Nina Kubiak. Dahlman drove in three runs, and Nina Kubiak and Neubauer each had two RBI.

Emma Jacobs tossed a complete-game six-hit shutout for Appleton East in the win over Oakfield. She had four strikeouts and just one walk.

Joise Heisler drove in the only run of the game for the Patriots in the second inning.

Union Grove had 13 hits and used five East errors to propel them to the victory.

Reese Reichelt and Aubree Erickson drove in the Patriots’ two runs in the seventh inning.

Appleton East plays at Hortonville on Tuesday.
