Appleton North baseball cruises to win at Appleton West

APPLETON – Appleton North pitchers Colin Reddy and Thomas Carew combined on a five-inning one-hitter as the Lightning rolled to a 17-1 win over Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association baseball action Thursday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.
The Lightning scored six times in the second inning and finished off the game via the 10-run rule with an eight-run fifth, improving to 13-6 overall and 10-5 in the FVA.
Reddy allowed one hit through four innings and Carew struck out two in a scoreless fifth for the Lightning.
North had 15 hits, including four by Jack Kangas and three by Levi Watts. Kangas drove in five runs on a pair of doubles and a triple, and Logan Hudson had two hits and four RBI in the win.
Both teams are back in action Friday as Appleton West plays at Neenah and Appleton North hosts Hortonville.
