Appleton North boys basketball thumps Appleton East

APPLETON – Four staters scored in doubles figures for the Appleton North boys basketball team, which defeated Appleton East 78-42 in a Fox Valley Association game Friday night at North High School.

Will Sweeney scored 17 points, Nathan Ramus added 15, Grant Hardy had 14 and Matthew Rosplochowski 12 for the Lightning, who are now 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the FVA.

The Lightning led by 13 at halftime and busted the game open with a dominant 45-22 advantage over the final 18 minutes.

Evan Schmidt made four 3-pointers in the first half and scored a team-high 14 points for Appleton East (1-10, 0-7 FVA).

Appleton East hosts Stevens Point for a nonconference game Saturday, and both teams are back in FVA action on Tuesday as East plays at Appleton West, and Appleton North travels to Fond du Lac.
