Appleton North boys basketball wins at Kaukauna to pull into first-place tie in FVA

KAUKAUNA – The Appleton North boys basketball team picked up a huge Fox Valley Association victory on Friday as a solid defensive effort gave the Lightning a 63-52 win over Kaukauna at Kaukauna High School.

Matthew Rosplochowski scored 17 points, and Will Sweeney and Nathan Ramus each added 16 for the Lightning, who pulls into a first-place tie with Kaukauna in the FVA. Both teams are now 15-2 overall and 11-1 in conference play.

North coach Chris Kellett remarked about the team’s defense.

“Huge win…tremendous defensive effort from (Grant) Hardy and (Ben) Zdzieblowski, specifically against (Tyler) Schwalbach and (Andrew) Jensen,” Kellett said.

Jensen led Kaukauna with 21 points.

Appleton North, winners of 10 games in a row, will look to extend their winning streak Tuesday at Kimberly.
