Appleton North finishes eighth at WIAA Division 1 girls golf sectional

GREEN BAY – Appleton North finished eighth and three other Appleton prep golfers came up short at a WIAA Division 1 girls golf sectional Tuesday at Thornberry Creek Golf Course.

The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams earn berths in next week’s WIAA State Girls Golf Championships, which will be held Oct. 13-14 at University Ridge Golf Club in Madison.

Bay Port had all five of its golfers finish in the top eight to win the sectional title with a score of 318, with Hortonville taking second with a 343 to earn the two team qualifying spots for the state tournament. Appleton North placed eighth with a 415.

Green Bay Preble Co-op’s Emma Cunningham won the individual sectional title with a 74 to earn one of the three individual state berths. Reese Osowski of West De Pere had an 80 and Emma Hudson of De Pere shot an 81 to earn the other two individual spots.

Kendall Lindemann shot a 90, Bella Bauman had a 102, Elle Tetzlaff shot 110, Finley Chipman had a 113, and Chloe Cronin had a 122 for Appleton North.

Appleton West’s Chloe Didreckson shot a 91, Fox Valley Lutheran’s Elliot Kriewaldt had a 94, and Appleton East’s Kahlie Muntner had a 106 as their respective seasons ended at the sectional tournament.
