Appleton North football opens season with road win at Mukwonago

MUKWONAGO – The Appleton North football team opened its season with a big road win, taking down Mukwonago 21-6 on Friday night in a nonconference matchup.

Quarterback Grant Hardy had two rushing touchdowns and D.J. Wilson added a 57-yard scamper for a score to give the Lightning a 21-0 lead midway through the third quarter.

Mukwonago scored late in the third, but the North defense did more than enough to hold off the Indians and secure the win.

Wilson finished with 109 yards on the ground and Hardy was an efficient 12-for-14 throwing for 154 yards for the Lightning offense.

Appleton North will play another road game at Kenosha Bradford on Thursday at 6 p.m.
