Appleton North places third to earn sectional berth at WIAA Division 1 girls golf regional

NEENAH – Appleton North placed third to move on in the postseason, and Appleton East, Appleton West and Fox Valley Lutheran each had an individual sectional qualifier at a WIAA Division 1 regional at Winagamie Golf Course on Wednesday.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on the qualifying teams move on a Division 1 sectional at Thornberry Creek Golf Course in Green Bay on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams qualify for the WIAA State Girls Golf Championships at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison on Oct. 13-14.
Hortonville shot a 343 to win the team title, with Kaukauna second at 365, Appleton North third at 385 and Neenah fourth at 386 to snag the team spots at next week’s sectional meet.
Appleton North’s Kendall Lindemann tied Hortonville’s Olivia Kernen for meet medalist honors with an 82 to also qualify for sectionals.
Appleton West’s Chloe Didreckson tied for third with an 84, Appleton East’s Kahlie Muntner had an 88 to tie for sixth, and Fox Valley Lutheran’s Elliot Kriewaldt shot a 90 to tie for 10th to also advance to the D-1 sectional at Thornberry Creek.
Fox Valley Lutheran tied for fifth with Kimberly (395), Appleton East was seventh (399) and Appleton West took eighth (404) among the nine teams at the regional.
Finley Chipman shot a 98, Bella Bauman had a 99, Elle Tetzlaff finished with a 106 and Chloe Cronin had a 110 to round out Appleton North’s scoring.
Ceclia Hermann had a 98, Grace Sauer shot 102, Lucy Engelbrecht had a 105 and Lily Kari a 112 for FVL.
Appleton East junior Jenna Smedberg had a personal-best round of 92 and missed out on the fourth and final individual sectional berth, losing on the second hole of a playoff with Kimberly’s Alyssa Schumacher.
Addison Baier added a 109, Ella Baier had a 110 and Finley Colombo shot 120 for East.
Appleton West’s other golfers were Mariah Frase (96), Ally Koehler (111), Alison Raddatz (113) and Danica Lafave (120).
