Appleton North softball blows past Appleton West

APPLETON – Brianna Gehrman had three hits and two RBI to help lead the Appleton North softball team to a 16-6 win over crosstown rival Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association game Friday at Appleton North High School.

The Terrors (1-7, 0-7 FVA) scored four times in the opening inning to take a quick lead before Appleton North fought back and pulled ahead with a nine-run fifth inning.

Lila Griffith, Alyssa Wald and Callie Weber all added two RBI each, and Valerie Baranczyk had two hits and scored three times for the Lightning (4-5, 3-3 FVA).

Sopia Wald struck out two in four innings of work to pick up the pitching win for the Lightning.

Lillian Hanke had two hits and an RBI for Appleton West.

Appleton North plays at Kaukauna on Monday and at Neenah on Tuesday. Appleton West’s next game is Tuesday at home against Fond du Lac.
