Appleton North softball shuts out Hortonville

APPLETON – Appleton North pitcher Charlotte Radtke threw a complete-game four-hit shutout as the Lightning slipped past Hortonville 1-0 in a Fox Valley Association softball game Thursday at North High School.
Radtke struck out 13 and gave up just one walk as she kept Hortonville (12-9, 8-7 FVA) off the scoreboard.
Lila Griffith had three of Appleton North’s five hits, including an RBI double to score Valerie Baranczyk with the game’s only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
With the win, Appleton North (10-10, 8-6 FVA) pulls ahead of Hortonville and into a tie for fourth place with Fond du Lac in the conference standings.
Appleton North plays at Appleton West on Friday.
