Appleton United boys hockey ties Shawano/Bonduel

SHAWANO – The Appleton United boys hockey team scored twice in the third period to force a tie with Shawano/Bonduel in a nonconference matchup Thursday at the Crawford Center.

After Gunter Kelbert scored just 1:16 into the second period for Appleton to break a scoreless tie, Shawano/Bonduel scored three goals in a 10-minute span to take a 3-1 lead.

Owen Ciardelli scored 5:40 into the third and Brayden Coda tied the game for Appleton with 6:04 remaining, and the score held until the end of regulation.

Brady Boldt had 12 saves in goal for Appleton (3-9-1).

Appleton United hots Mequon Homestead for a nonconference game Friday at 8 p.m. at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
