APPLETON – The Appleton West baseball team is finishing strong.

The Terrors, who suffered through a nine-game losing streak earlier in the season, earned their third-straight win with a 1-0 shutout of Oshkosh West in a Fox Valley Association game Thursday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.

Loren Georger struck out 13, walked two and scattered three hits to earn a complete-game win for the Terrors, who improve to 7-15 overall and 6-11 in the Fox Valley Association. He also had Appleton West’s lone hit in the game.

The Terrors scratched across the game’s only run in the second inning when Mason Peterson reached on a two-out error, moved up to second on a walk to Dominic Ruzzicone, moved up to third on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch to put Appleton West up 1-0.

That would be it as Georger got out of a bases-loaded jam in the third and struck out six over the final three innings to cement the win for the Terrors.

Appleton West will finish its regular season at Appleton East on Friday.
