Appleton West girls basketball blasts Milwaukee Riverside in WIAA playoff opener

MILWAUKEE – All eight players scored as the Appleton West girls basketball team defeated Milwaukee Riverside 72-24 in a WIAA Division 1 regional quarterfinal Tuesday at Riverside High School.

Allysen Buss scored 25 points, Kaydence Gilbert added 12, and Madelyn Nushart and Mya Flaker each finished with 10 for the Terrors, who snapped a 23-game losing streak with the road win.

“The girls played really well together, executed against the 2-3 zone, and did a great job sharing the ball,” West coach Tanner Bump said. “It was great to see everyone get the opportunity to score.”

Appleton West will play a D-1 regional semifinal at Appleton East on Friday at 7 p.m.
