Bay Port runs past Appleton East boys basketball

SUAMICO – Bay Port jumped out to a 23-point lead by halftime and went on to defeat Appleton East 84-64 in a nonconference boys basketball game Saturday at Bay Port High School.
The Pirates dominated the first half, taking a 45-22 lead into the break, and held on from there to improve to 3-0.
Appleton East (0-3) made 13 of 21 3-pointers in the loss, as Evan Schmidt was 6-for-9 from long range and scored a game-high 20 points. Joshua Christiansen added 11 points and Mason O’Rilley had 10 for the Patriots.
Appleton East hosts Pulaski for another nonconference game Tuesday.
