Big first inning pushes Kimberly past Appleton North softball

APPLETON – Kimberly scored eight times in the opening inning and cruised to a 13-3 win over Appleton North in a Fox Valley Association softball game Friday at North High School.
The Papermakers (11-3, 9-2 FVA) had 11 hits and also used seven walks to earn the win.
Sophie Hermus had a home run, and Pagie Schreck went 4-for-4 with three RBI for Kimberly.
Appleton North (8-10, 6-6 FVA) was held to five hits, including doubles by Brianna Gehrman, Charlotte Radtke and Callie Weber.
The Lightning plays at Oshkosh North on Monday.
