Fond du Lac sneaks out nine-inning win over Appleton East baseball

FOND DU LAC – Greyson Wenger walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Fond du Lac a 3-2 extra-inning walk-off victory over Appleton East in Fox Valley Association baseball action Thursday at Fond du Lac High School.

Appleton East (10-4, 6-3 FVA) put up singles runs in the fourth and fifth innings as Daniel Dieck walked and scored on an error, and Alex Thompson singled in Ethan Winkler. Thompson had two of East’s four hits in the game.

Fond du Lac tied the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth and the score held into extra frames.

In the ninth, Fond du Lac (8-7, 4-6 FVA) had a pair of singles, following by two two-out walks, the first intentional to load the bases, and skated out with the win.

Cade Prestigiacomo gave up two runs over seven strong innings for the Patriots.

Appleton East hosts Oshkosh West on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
