Fox Cities Stars boys hockey pulls out overtime win at Homestead

MEQUON – Andrew Ostermann netted a power-play goal 3:41 into overtime to give the Fox Cities Stars boys hockey team a come-from-behind 6-5 win over Mequon Homestead on Friday afternoon at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
Quinn Murphy scored a goal in the first period to give the Stars an early lead before Homestead’s Luke LaLonde scored three times in the second period to put the Highlanders up 3-2.
Xander Herron scored a goal in the second period and added three more in the third to give Fox Cities a lead, only to have Homestead tie the game with 6:02 remaining in regulation.
The tie score held, sending the game to overtime where Ostermann knocked in the game-winner off an assist from Cale Adamovich.
Homestead held a whopping 41-15 shot advantage, but the Stars goalie Easton Thoresen did enough to keep them in the game, making 36 saves.
Fox Cities will take on Cedarburg at the Ozaukee Ice Center on Saturday at 3 p.m.
