Fox Valley Lutheran baseball splits twinbill at Marinette

MARINETTE – The Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team split a North Eastern Conference doubleheader on Saturday at Marinette High School.

Marinette won Game 1 8-3 before FVL came back with a 6-4 victory.

Marinette (11-10, 9-7 NEC) scored all eight of its runs in the first inning of the opener as Maveric Williamson hit a grand slam and Chase MacGregor ripped a three-run homer.

FVL was held to five hits, with Jacob Bickel driving in two runs.

In the second game, The Foxes trailed 4-3 before scoring once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to pull ahead and salvage the split.

Lincoln Thede and Zach Daily each had two hits and an RBI in the victory for the Foxes (13-9, 8-7 NEC).

Fox Valley Lutheran will play at Waupaca on Monday.
