Fox Valley Lutheran boys take second, girls third at Waupaca Cross Country Invite

WAUPACA – Fox Valley Lutheran had five top-10 finishers as the boys team placed second and the girls took third at the Waupaca Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Waupaca High School.
Marshfield swept the team titles with the boys finishing with 26 points and the girls with 23.
The FVL boys were second with 52 points and Xavier took eighth with 190, while the Foxes took third in the girls standings with 75 points and Xavier was fourth with 104 among the 10 teams at the meet.
Marshfield’s Natalie Scharenbroch won the girls 5-kilometer race in 20:02.5, 10 seconds in front of Quinn LeRoy of Winneconne, to lead Marshfield to the team title.
Claire Fischer took fourth in 20:46.2, Anna Feuerstahler took ninth in 21:22.2 and Rowen Volhard finished 10th in 21:24.6 for the Fox Valley Lutheran girls.
Xavier had three top-20 finishers as Nora Erickson took 16th (22:14.1), Noelle Nevins was 18th (22:24.0) and Joy Krull was 19th (22:32.5).
Little Chute’s Ben Toeppler won the boys race in 16:36.7 with Marshfield’s Marshall Neve second in 17:03.6.
Mason Dobberstein finished fifth (17:49.3) and Zachary Muenster finished sixth (17:57.5) to lead the Fox Valley Lutheran boys.
Xavier’s Jordan Rosenbaum took seventh (17:58.6).
Xavier’s next meet is Oct. 9 at Kimberly and Fox Valley Lutheran will compete at the Luxemburg-Casco Invitational on Oct. 10.
