Fox Valley Lutheran girls basketball snags road win at Winneconne

WINNECONNE – The Fox Valley Lutheran girls basketball team continued its strong late-season surge with a 56-50 win over Winneconne in a battle of state-ranked teams on Friday night at Winneconne High School.

Five Foxes scored in double figures, accounting for all of their points, as they won their ninth game in a row to improve to 19-3 overall and 10-3 in the Bay Conference.

Eden Last scored 14 points, Olivia Johnson and Brianna Dahlke both had 11, and Kinley Peterson and Grace Meier each scored 10 for FVL, which came into the game ranked No. 4 in this week’s Bound Wisconsin/Zaleski Sports Division 2 state poll. The Foxes finished 20-for-28 at the free throw line in the victory.

Winneconne, ranked No. 10 in Division 3, falls to 15-6 and 10-3 in the Bay, falling out of contention for the conference title. With Xavier’s win over New London on Friday, the Hawks wrap up the Bay Conference championship.

Fox Valley Lutheran will finish its regular season Thursday at Seymour. Seedings for the WIAA state girls basketball playoffs will be announced on Sunday.
