Fox Valley Lutheran softball sweeps two from Marinette

MARINETTE – Brianna Dahlke hit home runs in both ends of the doubleheader as the Fox Valley Lutheran softball team swept Marinette in a twinbill 14-1 and 3-2 on Friday at Marinette High School.

The Foxes remain perfect on the season, improving to 15-0 overall and 14-0 in the North Eastern Conference. Marinette falls to 5-11 and 5-10 in conference play.

FVL scored five times in the opening inning of the first game and tacked on three three-run innings to win in five due to the 10-run rule.

Olivia Fischer, Dahlke and Madison Babcock each hit home runs, with Fischer driving in four, and Babcock and Dahlke three each in the victory.

Game 2 was much tighter. With the score tied 2-2, Dahlke hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to provide the Foxes with the go-ahead run.

Babcock picked up the pitching win, striking out 11 with no walks in 4 1/3 innings of shutout ball.

Fox Valley Lutheran will play Mosinee, Ashwaubenon and Coleman at the Ashwaubenon Invitational on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
