Hortonville shuts out Appleton East softball

HORTONVILLE – Taylor Lillie hit a grand slam in the fourth inning to break open a tight game as Hortonville went on to shut out Appleton East 8-0 in a Fox Valley Association softball game Tuesday at Otto Miller Park.
The game was scoreless through 3½ innings before Hortonville broke through for a run, loaded the bases, and Lillie busted it open with a long ball.
The Polar Bears (12-8, 8-6 Fox Valley Association) tacked on three more runs in the fifth on their way to the home win.
Lydia Dahlman had two of Appleton East’s six hits as the Patriots fall to 4-15 overall and 2-12 in FVA play.
Appleton East will host Appleton West on Thursday.
