Hortonville shuts out Appleton North in WIAA Division 1 softball regional semifinal

HORTONVILLE – Abbie Sippola tripled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Lainie Schroeder for the game’s only run as Hortonville downed Appleton North 1-0 in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal Tuesday at Otto Miller Park.
Appleton North’s Charlotte Radtke and Hortonville’s Grace Danoski matched zeroes through six innings, with Radtke striking out six and Danoski 10.
After North was retired in the top of the seventh, Hortonville found a way to scratch out a run to advance in the postseason.
Maggie Handrick had three of the four hits for the Lightning, who finishes the season with a 11-14 record.
Hortonville (15-11) will play at No. 1 seed Green Bay Preble on Thursday for a D-1 regional final.
