Menasha shuts out Xavier baseball

APPLETON – Menasha pitcher Jacob Coopman allowed just two hits over 6 2/3 innings with 14 strikeouts, and clubbed a two-run homer, to lift the Bluejays to a 3-0 win over Xavier in a Bay Conference baseball game Thursday at Don Hawkins Field.
The Hawks (9-12, 6-10 Bay Conference) finished with just two hits against the Menasha hurler and could not mount a comeback after the Bluejays scored three times in the first two innings.
Gavin Wiese went the distance on the mound for Xavier, striking out two and walking two while only giving up four hits, and just one after the second inning.
Xavier is right back at Hawkins Field on Friday as it hosts Green Bay East/West for a doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m.
