Neenah outlasts Appleton West baseball in pitchers’ duel

APPLETON – The Appleton West baseball team was held to four hits and dropped a 3-1 decision to Neenah in a Fox Valley Association game Tuesday at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.
Neenah scored twice in the top of the first inning and after West (1-7, 1-4 FVA) responded with a run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double by Loren Georger, the Terrors were held without a run by Cal Juckem.
Juckem struck out eight, did not walk a batter and gave up just one hit after the first inning to earn the win for the Rockets (3-4, 2-3 FVA).
Georger had a strong game on the mound as well, giving up three runs in 6 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts.
Appleton West will host Appleton East on Thursday at 5 p.m.
