New Richmond shuts down Appleton Post 38 Legion baseball

NEW RICHMOND – New Richmond’s pitching proved to be too much for Appleton Post 38 on Sunday afternoon.

New Richmond swept the doubleheader by identical 3-0 scores, holding Appleton to two hits in the opener and just one in the second game in the pair of five-inning games.

Michael Gwiazdon went the distance in the first game for Appleton (2-4), striking out six.

In Game 2, Charlie Blevins had a triple for Appleton’s lone hit.

Appleton Post 38 will be back in action Tuesday at home against Kaukauna. Game time at Don Hawkins Field is 7:30 p.m.
