Ten-run second inning pushes Fond du Lac past Appleton West softball

FOND DU LAC – Fond du Lac scored 10 times in the second inning and went on to defeat Appleton West 14-4 in both teams’ regular-season and Fox Valley Association softball finale Monday at Fond du Lac High School.
Breahna Mentick had three hits and two RBI for the Cardinals (16-10, 11-7 FVA).
Appleton West (2-18, 1-17 FVA) was held to three hits. Aubrey Detert scored three of the Terrors’ four runs, and Morgan Baehman and Chloe Didreckson drove in runs in the loss.
Appleton West will play a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal at Kimberly at Sunset Park on Tuesday.
