Three Appleton golfers qualify for sectionals with top finishes at WIAA Division 1 De Pere boys golf regional

DE PERE – Fox Valley Lutheran junior Kaden Kusserow, Appleton North junior Jonathan Huenink and Appleton West junior Grahm Goldschmidt earned spots in next week’s sectionals after competition at a WIAA Division 1 boys golf regional on Tuesday at Ledgeview Golf Course.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team at the regional move on to a D-1 sectional at Thornberry Creek Golf Club in Hobart on Tuesday, June 3. The top two teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team at the sectional will qualify for the 2025 WIAA State Boys Golf Championships at University Ridge Golf Club in Madison on June 9-10.
De Pere won the team title with a score of 324, with Kaukauna and Kimberly tying for second at 329 and West De Pere taking fourth with a 338 to earn team spots at the sectional. Appleton West was sixth (352), Appleton North seventh (357) and Fox Valley Lutheran eighth (367).
Kaukauna’s Jonah Roehrig won medalist honors with a 74, one shot better than De Pere’s Carter Broten.
Hortonville’s Carter Rohde had a 76 to finish third, Kusserow and Huenink tied for ninth with 83s, and Goldschmidt tied for 13th with an 84 to earn the four individual sectional berths.
Prestynn Evers had an 88, Lucas Downs shot 89, Austin Arizola had a 91 and Thomas Wendt had a 96 as well for Appleton West.
In addition to Huenink for Appleton North, Gordy Cole had an 89, Charlie Olson shot 92, Griffin Schroeder fired a 93 and Daniel Garrigan had a 96.
Rounding out Fox Valley Lutheran’s scoring was Ethan Ruppel with an 87, Gavin Schmidt with a 92, Carson Gauger with a 105 and Zaine Weise with a 108.
