Two third-period goals lift Waupaca past Appleton United boys hockey

WAUPACA – Waupaca scored two third-period goals to get past Appleton United 2-1 in a nonconference boys hockey game Thursday at the Waupaca Expo Center.
Max Vanden Langenberg scored off an assist from Birk Kozlowicz midway through the first period for Appleton and the 1-0 lead held until Waupaca netted a pair of goals in a 1 ½-minute span of the third to provide the difference.
Brady Boldt made 35 saves in goal for Appleton (2-4).
Appleton United will play a Badgerland Conference game at Oshkosh on Tuesday.
