MENASHA – The Xavier baseball team rallied from an early two-run deficit to defeat Menasha 7-4 in a Bay Conference game Monday at Koslo Park.
After falling behind early, the Hawks (7-8, 4-6 Bay Conference) put up back-to-back two-run innings in the second and third, and after Menasha tied it, scored again in the fifth to pull ahead for good.
Gavin Wiese picked up the pitching win, striking out five over 5 2/3 innings. Quinn Comerford earned the save by getting the final four outs for Xavier, which ends a three-game losing streak.
Kyler Bleck and Frankie Cavaiani each had two hits, with Cavaiani scoring three times for the Hawks.
The two teams play again Tuesday at Don Hawkins Field in Appleton beginning at 4:30 p.m.
