Xavier baseball sees long winning streak snapped by Shawano

SHAWANO – Shawano had a pair of four-run innings and outlasted Xavier 9-6 in a Bay Conference baseball game Monday at Memorial Park.

After Shawano scored four times in the first, Xavier tied it up with a big third inning.

However, Shawano put up another four-spot in the fourth and this time held on for the victory, improving to 8-3 overall and 7-2 in the Bay Conference. Pete Bruette had two hits and five RBI in the win.

Gavin Wiese had a pair of singles and drove in four for Xavier (6-6, 3-5 Bay), which had its six-game winning streak snapped. Kyler Bleck also had a pair of hits for Xavier.

Xavier will play a nonconference game at Fox Valley Lutheran on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
