Xavier boys basketball rips Berlin to capture WIAA Division 3 regional title

BERLIN – No. 3 seed Xavier rushed out to a commanding 18-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 76-52 win over No. 2 seed Berlin in a WIAA Division 3 boys basketball regional final Saturday night at Berlin High School.

Xavier (19-7) will take on No. 1 seed Brillion (23-3) in a sectional semifinal Thursday at Oshkosh North High School. No. 1 Freedom (25-1) and No. 2 Seymour (25-1) will play in the other sectional semifinal at Ashwaubenon, with the winners meeting in a sectional championship game on Saturday, March 14, to play for a berth in the state tournament.

The Hawks led 41-23 at halftime and finished off the victory by outscoring Berlin (21-5) by six points the rest of the way to clinch a regional championship.

Logan Ramczyk and Kyler Bleck each scored 21 points, and Caden Schuler chipped in 11 for Xavier, which shot 54 percent from the field. Ramczyk also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
