Xavier boys basketball surges past Fox Valley Lutheran

APPLETON – Xavier hit 11 3-pointers overall and outscored Fox Valley Lutheran by 17 in the second half to win 90-75 in a high-scoring Bay Conference boys basketball game Friday night at Xavier High School.

Gabe Heiges had 13 points in the first half as Fox Valley Lutheran took a 39-37 lead into the break before Xavier got hot.

The Hawks had five 3-pointers in the second half, went 20-for-23 at the free throw line and outscored FVL 53-36 over the final 18 minutes to pull away and improve to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in the Bay Conference.

Kyler Bleck went 8-for-8 at the free throw line and scored 15 of his game-high 26 points in the second half for Xavier. Logan Ramczyk added 24 points and Caden Schuler had 16 in the win.

Gabe Heiges topped FVL (8-5, 6-2 Bay) with 25 points, and Riley Lindell and Braden Heiges each had 13 points.

Both teams are back in action Tuesday, with Fox Valley Lutheran hosting Green Bay East and Xavier traveling to undefeated Bay Conference leader Seymour. Both games start at 7 p.m.
