Xavier boys golf finishes second at WIAA Division 2 sectional, qualifies for state tournament

SEYMOUR – The Xavier boys golf team is heading back to state for the fourth time in the past five years after placing second at a WIAA Division 2 sectional on Tuesday at Crystal Springs Golf Course.

The top two teams and top three individuals not on those teams at the sectional qualify for the 2025 WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament, which will be held June 9-10 at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.

Seymour won the team title with a 316 as junior Vince Sigl was meet medalist with an even-par 72 on his home course. Xavier was a distant second with a 343, but six strokes ahead of Luxemburg-Casco for the runner-up finish and the state berth.

The state tournament appearance is Xavier’s 12th since 2001.

Little Chute junior Shaymus Smith (79), Sturgeon Bay senior Tre Wienke (79) and Luxemburg-Casco senior Joshua Parins (81) earned the three individual state spots from the sectional.

Grant Neumann had an 83, Jonah Gentry shot 84, Derek Watry had an 86, Jack Schmidtke finished with a 90 and Kyle Watry had a 96 for Xavier.
