Xavier football defeats Shawano, picks up first Bay Conference win

APPLETON – The Xavier football team earned its first Bay Conference win of the season with a 28-7 victory over Shawano on Friday night at Rocky Bleier Field at Xavier High School.
The Hawks improve to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in the Bay Conference as they won their homecoming game. Shawano moves to 1-6 and 1-4 in conference play.
Ben Kappell was the workhorse for Xavier, rushing 34 times for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
Finn Schanke caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Carter Hermus, the only pass completion of the game for Xavier, and Osaze Fourmiller added 80 yards rushing and a touchdown in the victory.
Xavier is home again on Thursday for a Bay Conference-North Eastern Conference crossover game against Two Rivers.
