Xavier girls volleyball finishes 5-2 at Homestead Joust

MEQUON – The Xavier girls volleyball team finished the two-day Mequon Homestead Joust with a 5-2 record during competition Friday and Saturday at Homestead High School.
On Friday, Xavier lost to Milwaukee Divine Savior Holy Angels 25-18, 25-20, and Waukesha West 25-17, 25-16, before posting a 25-17, 25-21 win over Mequon Homestead.
The Hawks rebounded by winning all four matches on Saturday, defeating Appleton North 25-22, 25-21; West Bend West 25-19, 20-25, 17-15; Wauwatosa East 25-23, 25-19; and Neenah 20-25, 25-21, 25-22.
Setter Sydney Neilitz finished with 123 assists and 10 service aces, and Rose Kendall had 43 kills in the seven matches for the Hawks.
Allie Gioffredi added 24 kills and 17 blocks, and Braelee Kiepert had 40 kills for Xavier.
Xavier will open its Bay Conference schedule at home against New London on Thursday.
