Xavier places third at fifth Bay Conference boys golf meet

DE PERE – Derek Watry shot a 40 to tie for seventh and help the Xavier boys golf team to a third-place finish at the fifth Bay Conference Tournament meet of the season Tuesday at Mid Vallee Golf Course.

Seymour’s Vince Sigl won medalist honors with a 36, one stroke ahead of teammate Owen Sigl and West De Pere’s Cody Gevers, to lead the Thunder to the team title with a score of 152 in the nine-hole event. West De Pere was second with a 157 and Xavier third with a 166.

Jonah Gentry and Jack Schmidtke tied for ninth with 41s, Grant Neumann shot a 44, and Kyle Watry had a 45 to round out Xavier’s scoring.

Xavier will compete at the Appleton West Invitational, along with Fox Valley Lutheran, Horicon and Slinger, at Chaska Golf Course on Saturday.
