Xavier softball grabs walk-off win over Tomahawk to win WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal

APPLETON – Joy Krull knocked in Madeline Faulkner with a single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Xavier a wild 11-10 win over Tomahawk in a WIAA Division 3 softball regional semifinal Tuesday at Xavier High School.
After Tomahawk took a 5-0 lead, Xavier scored five times in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game.
Jennifer Lueck had a two-run single and Addison Hervey knocked in another run in the Hawks’ rally.
Morgan Staszak hit a three-run homer in the fifth to put Xavier on top, before it was time for Tomahawk to rally.
The Hatchets tied the game at 10-10 with two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh, before Xavier put forth one more push.
Two walks and an error loaded the bases before Krull singled to left to plate Faulkner with the game-winning run.
Staszak earned the pitching win, allowing six runs in 6 1/3 innings of relief for the Hawks.
No. 4 Xavier (10-9) will play at No. 1 seed Peshtigo (14-5) in a Division 3 regional final Thursday.
