Xavier sweeps West Bend East in WIAA Division 2 girls volleyball regional semifinal

APPLETON – The Xavier girls volleyball team opened up its postseason with a 3-0 sweep of West Bend East in a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal on Thursday night at Xavier High School.
The No. 1 seeded Hawks cruised to a 25-16, 25-21, 25-12, victory and will play No. 4 seed Kewaskum for a Division 2 regional title Saturday at home at 7 p.m.
“The team is playing so well right now,” Xavier coach Luke Herriges said. “We’ve had our best practices of the year leading up to this match and it showed. Excited for the next round of playoffs.”
Rose Kendall had a team-high 12 kills, Braelee Kiepert had nine, Lexi Allen added eight to lead the Xavier offense as setter Sydney Neilitz finished with 29 assists.
Neilitz added 14 digs, Lily Renz had three aces and 12 digs, and Grace Hackl had seven assists and nine digs in the win for the Hawks.
