Fox Cities Stars girls hockey falls to top-seed Bay Area in WIAA sectional semifinal

ASHWAUBENON – The Bay Area Ice Bears scored four times in the first period and went on to defeat the Fox Cities Stars 9-1 in a WIAA girls hockey sectionals semifinal Tuesday at the Cornerstone Community Center.
No. 1 seed Bay Area (23-2) moves on to a sectional final against No. 3 seed Lakeshore Lightning (21-3) on Friday at the UWM Panther Arena in Milwaukee. The winner moves on to the WIAA state tournament next week in Middleton.
The Stars finish the season with a 16-8 record.
Evie Mursau scored Fox Cities’ lone goal with 2:57 to go in the second period before Bay Area tacked on four more goals to finish off the victory.
Bay Area outshot the Stars 42-8.
