Second-half surge leads Xavier boys basketball past Menasha

APPLETON – Xavier used a big second-half run to defeat Menasha 71-52 in the regular season and Bay Conference boys basketball finale for both teams on Thursday at Xavier High School.
The Hawks trailed for much of the first half, but pulled ahead to take a 26-24 lead into halftime.
After Menasha went back up early in the second half, the Hawks closed finished the game outscoring the Blue Jays 43-20 to pick up the 19-point win and finish in sole possession of second play in the Bay Conference at 12-4.
Logan Ramczyk scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Grant Neumann poured in 16 points for the Hawks (17-7 overall).
Xavier made 10 3-points in the win and shot an even 50 percent (24 of 48) from the field.
Xavier will host a WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal on Friday, March 6, against the winner of Tuesday’s game between Sheboygan Falls and Kiel.
