NEW LONDON – Brett Marquardt hit five of his seven 3-pointers in a big second-half push to lead New London past Fox Valley Lutheran 72-63 in the Bay Conference and regular-season boys basketball finale for both teams on Thursday at New London High School.
Gabe Heiges had 18 of his game-high 27 points in the first half as Fox Valley Lutheran ran out to a 35-28 lead.
Marquardt led the comeback for the Bulldogs as he scored 18 points in the second half to finish with a team-high 24 as New London (15-8, 11-5 Bay Conference) outscored the Foxes 44-28 after halftime.
New London finished with 11 3-pointers, while FVL hit eight, including four from Heiges.
Fox Valley Lutheran finishes third in the Bay Conference at 11-5, and ends the regular season with a 15-9 overall record. FVL will host the winner of Tuesday’s game between Tomah and La Crosse Logan for a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal on Friday, March 6, at 7 p.m.
