Fox Valley Lutheran baseball goes 1-2 at Waupun Tournament

WAUPUN – The Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team went 1-2 at the two-day Waupun Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Thompson Field.

Beloit Turner scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to defeat the Foxes 10-8 on Friday, handing FVL its first loss of the season.

The Foxes also lost their first game on Saturday to West Allis Hale 12-4, before responding with a 15-5 victory over Columbus to move to 8-2 this season.

The Foxes had 12 hits in the loss to Turner, with Jackson Thede leading the way as he was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Jack Schlueter also drove in two runs for FVL.

West Allis Hale used a pair of five-run innings to push past FVL in Saturday’s opener.

Michael Gutekunst, who had two hits against Turner, added another two singles in the loss to Hale.

After Columbus rallied to tie FVL at 5-5 with two runs in the top of the fourth, the Foxes plated 10 in the bottom half and won via the 10-run rule after 4½ innings.

Luke Heimerl and Jordan Sanders each had three hits and two RBI, and Spencer Bromm had three RBI and earned the pitching win.

Fox Valley Lutheran jumps back into Bay Conference action Tuesday against Green Bay East/West at Joannes Park.
